When is the water polo season? Can I join the Laguna Beach Water Polo Club throughout the year?

The season starts in September. While participants are encouraged to start in the fall, we welcome new members throughout the year.
 

How do I join the Laguna Beach Water Polo Club?

Congratulations on your choice to join the incredible sport of water polo. The Laguna Beach Water Polo Club is excited to have you on board. You need to register with both the Laguna Beach Water Polo Club AND the USA Water Polo organization. See below for registration instructions.

  1. Please go to the below new member registration link and complete all required information.

  2. In order to complete the Laguna Beach Water Polo club member registration process, each athlete must be a Gold member of USA Water Polo, the governing body of water polo in the USA. If you are not yet a USA Water Polo member, please visit USA Water Polo to register your player as a Gold Membership. Use the USA Water Polo membership number and expiration date to complete the Laguan Beach Water Polo registration form.

How old do you have to be to play water polo and do I have to try out or pass a swim test?

Our club welcomes kids ages 7 to 14 who are proficient swimmers. There is no swim test required, but if you are uncertain if your child is ready to play water polo, our coaches are readily available to evaluate player preparedness.

Do I need to live in Laguna Beach to join the club?

No. We welcome any players from Laguna Beach and near by communities.
 

When and where are practices held?

Practices are held at the Laguna Beach Community pool located at 670 Park Avenue, Laguna Beach CA 92651

Depending on the age group, practices are held three to four evenings a week Monday through Friday.
 

Does my athlete have to make every practice?


Athletes are strongly encouraged to attend every practice. But, we understand, especially with the younger athletes, that players have busy lives and may need to miss practice from time to time. Athletes and families are encouraged to communicate with their coach if they are going to miss a practice.
